Barbara Mittleman, M.D.
Director, Program on Public-Private Partnerships
Dr. Mittleman earned an M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in1986, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine, fellowship training in Rheumatology, and post-doctoral training in cellular immunology. She has been at NIH since 1991, conducting both basic and clinical research. She has directed the Program on Public-Private Partnerships since its establishment in 2005.
Shawnmarie Mayrand-Chung, Ph.D., J.D.

Dr. Shawnmarie Mayrand-Chung earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry (Immunology) from Dartmouth Medical School in 1998, and a received her J.D. from New York Law School in 2003. Dr. Mayrand-Chung worked in the field of patent law from 1998 to 2006, and joined the NIH Program on Private-Public Partnerships in 2007. In her role as NIH Program Director for The Biomarkers Consortium, Dr. Mayrand-Chung works directly with the NIH directors and scientists on all aspects of the Consortium, and works closely with the Foundation for NIH.
Eliane Schnirman Lessner, Ph.D.

Dr. Lessner, formerly of Argonne National Laboratory, focused on research in accelerator physics. Dr. Lessner is currently an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow with the NIH Program on Public-Private Partnerships (2007-2008).During her fellowship, Dr. Lessner is concentrating on Nanotechnology activities and building multidisciplinary relationships towards scientific goals that benefit the public.
Marjorie Bonorden
Program Analyst

Ms. Bonorden is an experienced office administrator with a strong background in managing and maintaining contracts, and office systems. Prior to coming to NIH, she was a business owner and financial manager, with extensive experience in establishing and managing programs, and conducting program evaluations and operations. Ms. Bonorden joined the NIH Program on Public-Private Partnerships in 2007 as program analyst and administrator.
Wendy B. Smith, M.A., Ph.D., BCIAC
NIH Program Director, Clinical Research Partnerships
Program on Public-Private Partnerships
Dr. Smith joined the Program on Public-Private Partnerships in early 2008 as Program Director for Clinical Research Partnerships. Dr. Smith earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from The Catholic University of America and is a licensed experimental psychologist with experience in biofeedback, pain and integrative/complementary medicine. She will work with NIH and others to identify opportunities and develop partnerships focused on translational medicine and clinical research topics.
